Chevy’s All-Electric Vehicle Retains Bolt Name
After rounds of studies, Chevrolet has announced that the All-Electric EV car will keep the name “Bolt.” Even though the name is similar to the current plug-in hybrid Chevy Volt, the company believes the alike names will be best for the brand.
Chevrolet wants consumers to associate both the hybrid Volt and EV Bolt to its name. Back in February, Chevrolet kept the Bolt name for the concept, but keeping the name wasn’t definite. After a couple of months, Bolt will stick for the all-electric Chevy.
“The decision is made; the name won’t be changed,” Chevy head of marketing Tim Mahoney said.
The Chevy Bolt could be a gamechanger for the electric car segment as early estimates put its mileage range in the low 200s on a single charge. The Bolt could hit Jim Butler Chevrolet in St. Louis by 2017 — just in time to offer an alternative to the Tesla 3.
